Is it easy to damage alloys when fitting tyres?

Not too impressed asked my local man to change my scrubbed Conti's for 2 PS2 I had in the garage.

Cleaned car yesterday and both front alloys have damage near the edge of the rim which I can only assume has been caused when changing the tyres, as one area of damage is a big circular scratch round 2/3's of the rim.

Is this just carelessness/rushing or is it easy to damage them unless you get it spot on?

Old tyre machine? So is that a piece of outdated equipment with which it was easier to damge rims?

this is a basic mechanical tyre machine-which you can do alloys on safely if your careful

this is a machine for tyres that are for low profile tyres and best for alloys as the haed of the machine is locked with air pressure
