Renaultsport megane 175
« on: August 01, 2011, 08:18:43 am »
I have been looking at a few of these recently. Look a decent sporty diesal hatch and the reviews are good. Anyone on here owned one/driven one?

Wondering If the car was reliable, any common faults etc.

Cheers.

Not that many people that have gone from VW to Renault to be fair, normally the other way :signLOL:

Perhaps pm MAT ED30 or jhtrophy as they are well experianced to Renault  :happy2:

I drove one of these a couple of weekends ago.  Over about 150 miles.

It was ace, really accessible performance, great economy, and Renault really seemed to have turned the corner regarding build.  It had 4 pots on the front too!  Renault fitting decent brakes to a diesel..........

Perhaps VW should take note and equip the GTi/Ed with decent stoppers.  :scared:

It would be on my list if I wanted a diesel, and a change from 5 pot utopia.  overall it was a great drive, really engaging, and very comfortable.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

@steve- yeah I know it's not the usual transgression and it does feel weird just looking at a Renault after always having golfs but times are a bit tight and on basic figures alone it will save me £250 per month against my ed30. I would look at the gtd's but I think they are overpriced. The megane looks a bit funny but handling and performance is supposed to be fairly close to the petrol.

Again cheers for the feedback.
