So ive took the hids out and want to fit the normal bulbs . What i need to know is what parts i need apart for my headlamps , is there a website that gives a breakdown of parts .....like the ones that vw parts department have . Please help as this is doing my head in now

try vagcat.com, think you need to register but this will giver you access to something similar to the VW Parts system  :happy2:

+1
I have HIDs fitted in my vRS and they consist of a bulb and ballasts which plug in to the existing wiring.  You should just need to unplug them and refit the standard halogen.  Out of interest why did they fail, the new rules regarding these don't take effect until January 2012.....

Thats a nightmare for you, the kit I used literally took 5 minutes per side to fit (although the Octy is more user friendly than the Golf when it comes to the headlights.....).

Might have to purchase some new head lights if they have been butched and sort the wiring out

your right its a nightmare , ive got two more days before before the mot retest is up . And the guy that fitted them used like a plastic welding putty to stick them in the light causing the bulb to be in the wrong place and no amount of adjusting would correct it.......

Yeah will be was going to say this, as bulb mounts are different to the ones HIDs use.

Best bet is to go down a scrap yard near you, unsure where your about but there is a good one by coventry for VW parts.
But its just the bulb cradle kind of thing you would need id assume.

So it sounds like the cowboy fitters tried to fit OE xenon bulbs in standard halogen lamps, if the correct HID kit had been fitted you wouldn't have had any problem.

As Maxitrol says, get a set of bog standards in for the MOT.  :happy2:
