Oil Question - Totally confused by what I've read...
« on: August 03, 2011, 01:55:38 pm »
ok, oil level has just dropped below MAX mark after 5k miles, and was looking into getting a litre to have spare to keep topped up. Now my car isn;t on Longlife servicing, but time/mileage...

Sure the book said VW502 spec, but reading through this is an old spec and should now be VW504? But is this for longlife...?

Halfords state a VW specific 5W30 VW504 spec Castrol Edge... is this the one to go for?

Car is a 2007 Edition 30...

Any clarification appreciated...

Yes go for the VW 504 spec oil regardless of your service regime.

But halfords also sell 0W40 under there fixed servicing banner for performance/modified engines which is VW502 rated... with mine being Stage 1 is that better?

I would suggest you get the castrol edge 5W-30.

I'm with the doctor on this edge 5w-30, and Asda is cheaper, or was a couple of weeks ago :happy2:
