my wife's audi a4 avant does the same thing.  was told it was the motor too.  dont know if this has happened to yours, but the water jet stopped working some time prior to the arm having a mind of its own.  i was told that the water then ends up in the motor sending it haywire.  still, think i will check the fuse as another poster has suggested.
