Should I wax?
« on: August 13, 2011, 05:24:12 pm »
Just power locked my tornado red golf.
Would I get any more benefit if I wax it?

Some people are happy with powerlock as the LSP. Others apply a wax over their sealant. Entirely up to you. Depends on the wax and how well it sits on the sealant too.

Try it on half the bonnet and then see whether you feel it adds anything. If not, strip back and reapply the sealant.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

i have waxed mine today...first time i have used a wax.  polised it with autoglym super resin polish > poorboys white diamond glaze > autoglym extra gloss protection > collinite 476s.  i think putting the wax over a sealant will only benefit the car...i am going on things i have read, only time will tell.  i could see a difference, the paint work seemed deeper and generally shinier.  however, after 4 1/2 hours doing all that my Mrs comes out and says it looks no different to when i started!  :fighting:

anyway, here's a before and after...difficult to see in pics i guess but i am happy with it.  in a nutshell, i can see the wax will protect the paint and make it look better for longer and i shall definately do it again.

before

after

I haven't had time to clay, polish and wax mine so having washed it last week and then given it the once over with Megs Final Inspection, i gave it a second run of Megs Final Inspection yesterday and i have to say results are very good  :jumping: and to think i only actually bought it as a clay lube...

Of course I'm not claiming that it's better results than i'd get from a diligent wash/clay/wash/polish/gloss/wax but i would highly recommend Final Inspection for anyone who only wants/has time to wash n go  :pomppomp:
