Been playing with Aperture 3
« on: August 15, 2011, 09:36:25 pm »
I've had the Aperture 3 Training Video's for ages now i have just never really got in to using it. However after detailing the car today i thought i would have a play with making a Mixed B&W/Colour pic. Also sharpened the pics up a bit but i find it impressive how with a few simple tweaks you can make a fairly good pic look really really good (imho of course :P)

Comment's good/bad welcome

So far, your enhancements are subtle and nicely clean up the images < I'm particularly looking at the car bodies.

I'm a great fan of Aperture3 (I've never used previous versions) and find it typically Mac and very intuitive to the point of not needing training vids. Apple's onsite short vids are helpful though < Are those the ones you're referring to, Carl?

I upload pics from my camera into iPhoto.... I then select the ones to be edited and do so in Aperture (set in iPhoto as my default editor).... If they then need more detailed editing I do so in Photoshop (set in Aperture as my default editor).

Have you used Aperture's Stacking feature yet, Carl? It's brilliant for comparisons between the originals and edited images and you can see your changes with just a side swipe on your TrackPad - Very cool indeed.

Hmm, the black&white background mixes are a bit distracting for making any photographic comparison judgements as your car has a limited colour range to view.

Not the Apple training videos. I have the Complete Lynda.com Aperture 3 essential training. It's about 9 hours worth of video lessons broken down into 17 Sections / 113 Lessons

Just my personal view, there are too many distractions in the composition, road signs and bins, i would clone them out or find a nice spot to take piccies.  :happy2:

I agree but as the wife was giving me earache as it was for the length of time cleaning the car i just took the pics in situ.

My next task when the weather gets a bit better is to go find a nice place to do some pics. These were just as a test for what can be done :happy2:
