Looking very good Steve lad how did you find the slicks when you first set off then? I'm gutted I'm missing a few track days but I'm sure as you may well be aware it shall all hopefully be worth it! I hope your off wasn't to much drama pal hate to see issues with fellow forum members on here having fun giving it there all! Did the slicks really transform it for you then? See you at silverstone mate.

With some "leaning on the them" it took about 1 1/2 to 2 laps to get them working well, they weren't as bad as I thought they might be, however these have seen some action before so I would image brand new slicks would be a bit more lively to start with.

The off wasn't too bad, here's the circuit layout: -

It was at the "the wiggler" coming out of the exit got too wide and with two wheels on the grass / mud which put it sideways and heading towards the only bit of arnco on the circuit, I managed to catch enough of it with some opposite lock to bring it around to bouce sideways to a halt

I think the slicks played a big part in being able to stop in time, as at that speed I think road tyre would have slid me into the barrier  :scared: :scared:

Got the clutch to do before Silverstone but looking forward to that one, however no slicks allowed on that day, road legal tyres only.

Ah, all the best people have an off at some point  :signLOL:

Glad to hear you got away with it, and both had a good day on track. Certainly looks a decent enough setup they've got there.

Steve - How did you set your car up for the slicks BTW? Looks like you could do with more front camber there??
TC - there appears to be no pictures of you powersliding. Must try harder...
Sideways yo!

It can take some more front camber but have left it in the original setup of 2.5" as it was the first outing for the slicks.

Going to book another day at somewhere like Bedford to experiment some more with the setup

Gravel traps are for winners

The caterham guys at rockingham were saying the slucks were scary when cold, but once hot, grip wise the differnce was huge over a semi-slick tyre

Nice to see you cocking a leg Steve  :happy2: was that down to the slicks? Probably not quite as scary going out on part used ones. I may try them when the 888's are shot.

Looks a pretty quick track, another one I'll have to tick off.

what a top day :happy2:
big thanks to TC and Steve for numerous passenger throughout the day. Couldnt of had two more different cars to try.

the bathtub being a bit 'tight' for a man of my poundage, but once in its surprisingly roomy, and the type72 is very well specced
the cars a belter  :happy2: and a supercharger whine to die for. TC pushed the car to its limits on its first outing which was impressive.

Steves gti is just silly on slicks, and boy was i glad of the full harness and 'grande' seats.
He hunted down and passed almost everything on the day. As he has said the off was fun , pointing at the barrier I was convinced we were at least going to nudge the armco, but the slicks just jumped to a halt after some nifty wheel twirling.
marshalls even told him to cool it

venue would be awesome for a mk5 meet  :pomppomp:

p.s. still dont like the wheel colour Steve

It cocks a leg on the road tyres too, the rear suspension is very very stiff  :driver:

Next track day we are both at your welcome to put the slicks on yours to see what you think  :happy2:

Great shots  :congrats:.

TC's car is just porn... The color really suits it well. the Lotus guys really did an outstanding job with this car. And when you think that the looks are backed up by performance it just too good to be true. Again congrats for this car (I just can't help myself not saying these things about this car).

Steve's green wheels look much better in these shots than in the photos from the build thread. I think those shots were shot to close to the car and these shots do the car justice. Very nice!

Nice to see track cars on the track!

Me and a mate called in for a look on this day, we were on our bikes.

I did have a close look at your golf, very nice indeed. Out on the track, we were surprised how fast your golf looked.
I was sure it had been seriously tampered with, but just the re-map. Hmmm makes me want to swap in the diesel lol

Also what the fook was that red old school race car, the one with the V8 in the back ?? I liked that A LOT
