Didn't VWR have them fitted to the red temptress at some point?! I seem to remember Matt Walker saying they were not great considering the cost!

That's what I was led to believe. Load of top end cars use them.

Check how often the re-builds are, and more importantly, how much? These aren't fit and forget by any stretch...

I think though the cost is reflected in being able to rebuild and modify the internals to suit?

I know there are plenty like that but Ohlins were already in a different class.

I for one would be interested to see a review.

I didn't think I had imagined it, might be worth speaking with Matt first before shelling out as he was less than complimentary if I recall.

I seen the review in vw driver and they said they were a must if you wanted the extra comfort, although they did say there were better units out there for the track but not for combo of road and track. Ive had KWs before on my last mk5 and they were good but pretty harsh and not the best performance wise on some roads, so im hoping these will be the best of both worlds.
as mentioned though ohlins, showa and BOS are the daddys of suspension world !
I take it ill be one of the first in the country then thats why they want a bit of a write up. They have got some sweet features like dual flow technology for sorting the damping on rough roads by letting the fluid flow quicker
The fact that when you are reducing the ride height this doesnt alter the compression of the springs as the ring actually adjusts the body, is a nice touch too and so simple i dont see why every coilover isnt like this - nice touch !
Also easily adjustable from below

did anyone drive the vwr car with the ohlins on it ?
Were they only on for the test ?
What did it come with when you bought it stevie ?

there is a two year warranty with them, i was under the impression they didnt need serviced ( on the road versions anyway ) they are just as reliable as any coilover - obviously this will still need to be tested as these road versions have nit been out long.

Fair enough, you say Ohlins and I immediately think remote reservoirs, racetrack bred kit and regular rebuilds. I wasn't aware they did road stuff like that.

Certainly sounds interesting  :happy2:

Just before i ordered them today i phoned up the Uks distributer for ohlins to check a few things about them before i went ahead, and it turns out that these are not coilovers as advertised ! these are normal strut type units although they are adjustable in damping they are NOT adjustable in ride height ! Ohlins said that the MK5 version of the R&T range are the only version off these that are not ride height adjustable, and these do not include springs, you need to source your own.
He also went in to them being fully servicable and custom valving is available, TBH they do sound a great bit of kit, but for that sort of money i want to beable to decide the ride height like all the other manufactures versions of the ohlins R&T range, aswell as that if i was to go down the strut spring rate, id prefer to pocket £700 and buy the bilstein B12s as i know that they have the comfort levels i was looking for from the Ohlins
