I'd rather have original 17's than Taiwan Gas Board 18's.

Hope you get a good result. Even if you go back to 17's, you should be ina position to get a discount on the car's purchase price. After all, you paid for a car with 18's.

A google search brings up 17" Monza pics.

Which country gave them that name?

It's uk spec. Local dealer put the alloy code into their computer and they are named Denver on their system. I had to show them a used car spec they had which had them described as monza!! Very weird but local dealer system had them called Denver with the picture of the monza!!

Failing everything else pop out the center cap by pushing it out from the rear (will probably have a metal spring clip from looking at the picture) and measure the stick on badge size. Somebody on ebay will sell VW center cap stickers in that size and if need be replace all four so that they match.

Okay, latest update....
Got a call from the dealers today after lengthy emails to local managers and VW themselves. They have agreed to replace the Taiwan knock off's for OEM 18" Monza 2 alloys!!!
RESULT
Won't be able to get to Essex for about 2 weeks but I will post pics of the new ones when they are on. Thanks everyone who posted. I really appreciated the advice.

That is a really great result, only just looked at this and the offset and rim width on those reps dont match the OEM Monza size so on those grounds.  And a brand-new set of Monza II's with no white worm is an amazing result!  :party:

Email from dealer today, they have ordered them and they should be in on Thursday!!  Trip to Essex sometime next week and genuine alloys here we come.
