Scuffed piggin rim
« on: March 25, 2009, 08:15:11 pm »
Things happen......5 weeks after ED30 ownership the wife has scuffed one of her rims.

Admittedly.....not bad at all just the rub of a kerb whilst parking but just enough to be annoying.

Has anyone carried out their own repair?

There was a lengthy 'how to' on TSN sometime ago which I guess would be good to find.

I could always practice on the daughters Clio......now thats a thought.

Im here!, got the can through.

Havent tried it yet as weather crap at moment.

From spraying it on a bit of card and offering it up to the wheel it looks close.

Will report in over the weekend!

Look forward to it Cossy.

I am happy given how minor my scuffs are to have a go at the repair, although will try first on the daughters car.

What do you reckon Phil, Isopon Metalik or putty??

I think the repairs are pretty simple, its just the paint colour which hopefully cossy will come up trumps

Tried my can of Pescara Paint today that finally arrived, match was pretty good, but it came in a can of aerosol, so i sprayed some into an old laquer touch up stick can, and used the brush stick to cover. As close a match as i think you'll get tbh.

Brush stick to cover?!!!!!

Mines taking about 2 weeks to complete properly!

Took an hour just to mask it off.

Filled & undercoated over the weekend.

Paint next weekend

Clearcoat/Laquer the next.

No wonder the car doesnt do any miles!!

Plan to spray just the outer rim part in the places damaged, if the match not too my liking will spray the whole outer rim.

Outer rim not very wide so hoping to blend in without effecteting the spokes/inner part of wheel (if this makes sense!)

The skinny space savers on the front, anyone got another I can put on the other side?

Itching to try 300 BHP through it!!
