Blimmey so confussing !
Can I suggest a poll as there seems to be no definite answer to this the most important of subjects.
Is there anyone from VW or sound knowledge on this subject that could give us all some advice ?

Not to sure whats confusing. Just do what VW recommends in the manual and inside the fuel filler flap, you wont be far wrong at that unless you are a racing driver and need the car to act different for different surfaces and weather conditions. Everybody suddenly becomes an expert after reading a couple of threads on the internet.  :stupid:
