DSG....problems??

Has anyone else has these symptons with their DSG....  the drive I use over night is on an angle and if I have to reverse off i.e. up the angle, I have to give give a few revs [or let the clutch pull the car on it's own] in order to get it moving.... equally in the morning the DSG seems a bit sluggish to move from 1st to 2nd, and when in D the shifts from 2nd to 3rd aren't exactly the smoothest.... however when warmed up all seems well.

I was thinking of getting it reset after reading a few posts  on here, but having spoken to my local Tuner (Triple H Motorsport), he suggested having it serviced and an oil change first.... the car's an MY08 Ed30 with Revo stg 1 and 26k on the clock....

Any thoughts would be great :happy2:

Had a similar thing with my ED30, did a dsg oil change and DSG rest and all was fine. Think the Reset would be the first thing to try and its free if you have Vagcom or 1 hour labour for a garage to carry out.

Cheers pal... I was thinking along the same lines.... although the service is due in a few months so depending on the cost it might just be spreding it out before the service

Have now got my car booked in for a DSG service, oil change and reset this weekend.... hopefully it'll get the DSG back on track?!?

I was playing around on the way home tonight and noticed that driving in D and 6th gear doing about 40mph, when I put my foot down the revs jump 1500rpm before it drops a gear or 2, meaning there is a fair jolt when when the lower gear engages... is this normal or is it another sympton of a poorly DSG???

There's a two stage switch beneath the accelerator pedal. If you press the pedal down far enough to engage the switch, the 'box drops a gear. If you press it to the floor , the second stage switch is engaged & down 2 gears it goes.

So you'll get a certain amount of rev gain by getting the pedal that far down. It sounds normal to me :happy2:

I also have a sloped drive and mine also takes a bit of extra revving it's because it's using the hill start function so just needs a little extra oomph!

Cheers fella... now you mention that 2 stage switch it rings a bell.  Plus with the REVO stage 1 I guess the 'Jolt' I mentioned is just exaggerated.... fingers crossed the service and reset smooths over the rough edges I mentioned

Any of us with VCDS can do a reset for you. Look in the member log for your nearest VCDS owner & ask them. Saves time at the stealer. The only time I asked them to reset mine (under warranty) they didn't bother. I told them I'd start going to another dealer for my servicing needs & did the reset myself. 5 minute job then a 10 minute drive. It sure as hell isn't worth an hour of dealer 'labour'.

I've been suffering very similar symptoms in my 55 plate gti dsg
It's on 41k now, so today it's been in Vw Swindon for a dsg oil and filter change
I've not noticed a massive improvement, so does anyone know if they reset the dsg in these £170 fixed price services as a reset, if it does as described above, might be the key to getting it to run smoothly again ?

I was told that unless the dealer thought there was an issue with the gear box they will not do the reset. I have specifically asked for the reset and have heard good things about this dealer so I'll keep you all posted . From memory the mechatronic unit is about 1200 all in

Chris, if your car is second hand, the reset is a must. The box 'learns' your driving style and so when you buy a used DSG the style of the previous driver remains. This is often why it can feel a bit wooly. My friend's R32 would occasionally select first in slow right handers, and I found mine hesitant on some down changes. Two resets later, two transformed cars. I heartily recommend it if you've bought used.

Chris, make that over £2K for the Mechatronics unit to be replaced, that what I and others have been quoted. Mine was replaced under warranty :star:

And as Loucyffer states, try and get it reset. :happy2:
