BBS CH & PESCARA info!?
« on: August 29, 2011, 02:51:50 am »
Sorry if this has been covered. I'm looking to buy a set of BBS CH OR PESCARA wheels for my MKV. They both look the same but what's the difference, weight? And which wheels are worth more?

Also how do I tell if they are genuine, or replicas as there seems to be quite a few about. How much should I be lookig to pay for a used set and how much do they retail for brand new (Any website links)

Thanks in advance  :happy2:

I am sure there are several genuine sets off Pescaras on the sales board at the moment ,I think The BBS CH is nearly the same looking wheel but you may struggle to find some the same size 7.5x18 with a 51 off .

When I was looking for a spare set for my Eddy there were lots on Ebay but be careful one set I looked at had 2 Pescaras and two 8x18 with a 45 off set the guy said they was fine but at the time i didnt know so passed.

I am sure if you buy on here you will be ok fair prices and the right wheel set up , remember you can always have them refurbished for £200 ish so dont be put off by a bit off kerbing or dirt

Reps will be slightly heavier, but not enough to really make a difference to normal driving.  If you find a set that are 18 x 8 ET45 they will be perfect, sitting 12mm out further than OE wheels which will fill the arches nicely.

I am looking for some to go on the vRS, but I can only find ET35 or 42 which will sit the wheels out to far, IMO.

I found this post below very helpful from this thread

There are some similar designs made by BBS:

- original BBS CH (MOTORSPORT): different sizes and bolt patterns (VAG 8x18 ET50)
- new BBS CH-R: dito
- cheaper BBS CO: without 'Motorsport'

VAG 5x112 only:

- BBS VZ033 (Votex/driver gear):   8x18 ET44
- VW Pescara/Rockingham (ED30):  7.5x18 ET51
- Audi A3 S-Line '14-spoke-design':  7.5x18 ET54
- Audi A4/A6 S-Line '14-spoke-design':  8x18 ET43

Have a look at BBS VZ (photos of them in the thread link above) there much cheaper than the BBS CH at £600 a set of 4 brand new and so similar price to used damaged pascaras and have a similar look. I have been looking for a few months for used pascaras until i read the thread linked above, then it did not make sence to me personally to buy an unknown quantity when i could buy brand new similar design original BBS's for similar money. Unless i had needed them for originality of an edition30 or i really wanted to keep the original bolts and offset the VZ were a logical choice.

So ideally I'm looking for 18X7.5J wide with 51 offset? Is this same as 18" Monza II alloys
I assume the CH is the lightest of the different designs!

Visually how can I tell if the rims are reps? What should I look out for?
How much do CH retail for new?

Sorry to sound thick but does offset mean the distance of the wheel from the hub in MM :ashamed:
