RNS 510 voice control commands assistance
« on: August 14, 2011, 09:36:22 pm »
Hi guys. Wonder if some kind soul could assist with a couple of queries I have on my RNS voice control that I installed this afternoon.

I updated the RNS from my previous V1300 firmware to (I think) 2840 from the mygti.com website. Everything went well (phew) and after activating microphone diagnosing and de-ticking the voice control not active box in VCDS, I had a new sub-section in the setup menu for voice control.

Then proceeded to install the Kaufatec wiring mod to add the RNS into the loop for the overhead mic that was previously only connected to the factory fitted Bluetooth. Again, whilst a pain all went well.

Now here's my 2 issues.

Firstly, if I press the button on the steering wheel (don't forget I have a Rocco, so it's the MK6 style MFSW), it only activates voice dialling for the phone, and only the phone commands are recognised. If I say for instance, RADIO it can't recognise it and proceeds to list the available phone commands (like dial number, dial last number, contact etc). Is there something I need to untick in the Phone module?

Secondly, if I press the voice button on the RNS itself, it does indeed activate voice control and I can say RADIO, MDI, NAVIGATION etc, and it does swap to these items, so I know its working.

However, one of the reasons for getting Voice control working was to control my IPod via the MDI. Rather than taking my eye off the road to search for a track, I just wanted to say something like MDI, PLAYLISTS, PLAYLIST NO.3 (for instance).

When I try, although it flips to the MDI and then says "and further", if I say PLAYLIST or ALBUM etc, It says these commands are not available. I've seen this working like this in videos on YouTube, so don't know what I'm going wrong?

Anyone any ideas.

Oh yes, finally, in the setup menu, there's a section for "deleted voice tags" what's all this about and can you create user own voice tags for cretins items, and if so how please ?

Thanks in advance.

Andrew

Which command do you have the voice control set to as it needs to be on automatic.
e.g. You need to have it set to: Setup > Settings > Language > Automatic
May be worth a try.

Firstly I think the coding in to your telephone needs to be changed to something like -

Quote from: Ross Tech Wiki
00x0x?x: Language (Voice Control)
0 = Voice Control OFF OR via external Device (e.g. RNS-E)
1 = German
2 = English (UK)
3 = French
4 = Italian
5 = Spanish
6 = Czech
7 = English (US)
8 = French (CA)
9 = Speaker dependent (Voice Commands inactive, Acoustic Name Selection active)

The exact coding will depend on the BT interface you have fitted but you get the idea.

Secondly to learn commands say "Help".
