when an accident repair is done......what are the chances (open question) of me getting them to git a GTI front bumper rather than std? would places do this or is this a NO NO

They should repair to standard unless you had declared a non-standard part to your insurance company and had like-for-like cover. I can't see places willing to go outside of this IMO.

No, just wondered if they would consider fitting me a later GT bumper if I asked.
