as long as you have the diagnostic wire, just fit the stalk and code the steering control module and activate it in the engine

AF is fine as its midline so supports cruise.

What year is your car... If its pre 06 you will need an extra wire... if its 06 build or later you should be fine.

Its all explained in my 'how to' (link on the first page of this thread)

As above.

I had a factory fitted AF module with cruise, using a midline cluster.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I got a cheapo set from eBay, delivered for about a fiver. comes with short and longer bits of the same size.

The set I got is the same as this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/11PC-SPLINE-BIT-SET-1-2-DRIVE-SOCKET-CHROME-VANADIUM-/140630512900?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item20be3b5504

Really?  Perhaps a previous owner fitted the diagnostic cable?

Just to warn people considering buying spline bit sets, a spline is different from an XZN bit, the difference is in the angle of degrees on the splines of the 2 types of bit. Whether there is enough of a difference to make it not fit the bolt however, I'm not sure. I used a 12mm XZN bit and that fitted 100%. You don't want anything slipping when it comes to torquing up the bolt.

Sorry if that made your head hurt, I just re read it and it did me.
