i have a 55 plate , i only needed the stalk if this help  :jumping:

My van was 55 but was technically an early 06 build so had the wire. Some 55 plates do have it.

I'm well happy with the retro fit in the Golf, I am now thinking about it for the vRS.  Can someone confirm if the stalk will be the same?  Hopefully it will have the wire, it's a 56 plate, but to be on the safe side I think I will physically check this first.

That's good news then, I will just need to confirm the steering control module part number then I will get on eBay.  :happy2:

Edit:  Just checked the vRS and it has the 'BC' control module, the same as in the Golf.  So 50/50 chance it will work!   :popcornsoda:

If anyone's in Staffs and wants this fitting to their car I'll do it for some beer tokens as I did mine at the weekend and now I know what I'm doing it's a doddle.

Hi Mate,

I'm in Stourbridge and have just bought a stalk, if you have VC to program it and can fit it, I will happily supply beer tokens (and Beer)!!

I would send a PM, if I had posted on here enough to be allowed to send PM's Doh!

When the cruise control is all fitted and working, do you get a light on the dash to tell you when its turned on?  One of the works pool cars is an Octavia and has a wee green dial illuminates above the rev counter to tell you.

So the car already has the light fitted, not used, but ready to be?

Reviving this thread as Martin completed a diagnostic on the vRS today.  Looking at the info for the steering controller we discovered that it is almost identical to the Golf -

vRS:

Address 16: Steering wheel        Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl
   Part No SW: 1K0 953 549 BC    HW: 1K0 953 549 BC
   Component: Lenksäulenmodul 036 0070
   Coding: 0000012
   Shop #: WSC 73430 790 00000
   VCID: 74EC692717A00E3

Golf:

Address 16: Steering wheel        Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl
   Part No SW: 1K0 953 549 BC    HW: 1K0 953 549 BC
   Component: Lenksäulenmodul 036 0070
   Coding: 0000012
   Shop #: WSC 01279 785 00200
   VCID: 74EC69276E20

As you can see the differences are in the last two lines - Shop # and VCID.  Can anyone in the know, tell what these relate to and if they will cause an issue fitting cc?

I'm not sure what VCID is but the shop number simply relates to the dealership, factory or bench.

WSC = Workshop Code

The caddy probably has the newer type combination stalks
the transporter probably can be done, but needs a loom to be fitted
