Would kill for a nice MK2. How much has it cost you to do all that work if you don't mind sharing?

Under the plastics was all tidy apart from the rear arches and the bumper iron which needed attending to. Sills are all good too!

MOT regs are changing, but its still a bit of a grey area, plus these are 4300K bulbs so look completely OEM (very bright white with almost no blue) unlike a 6000k which is distinctly an HID if you get me. Will deal with it when it comes around....i don't do candle power lol!!

Including the cost of the car, id say about £900 to £1k all in, which isn't too bad really as its a lot of car for the money!

Cheers for all the comments guys. It is epic indeed

Anyhow time for an update.....

Today the mk2 had a full camber and tracking adjustment completed on it. Unfortunately, the wishbone bushes were well past it (still the originals!!!) so rather than faf with pressing the bushes out and all that, managed to blag an absolute bargain on trade at GSF - Two wishbones of top german quality for the huge sum of just £32.

To a normal consumer, these would've been £45 each PLUS vat!!!!

So all in, to get the camber and tracking done with the wishbones swapped, some adjustment to the exhaust and a few other little bits you can only do on a ramp cost just £75 plus the cost of the wishbones - pretty damn good id say! (about 4 hours work for 3 people!!)

Also, did this tonight....

Bit of red retro coach lining. Was only 50p for a 10M roll so i thought why not!!

Also attempted to change the rocker cover gasket to find out GSF had completely ballsed up as usual and given me a Polo 1.3 rocker gasket instead of a Golf GTI....bloody useless in there I swear!!!

Anymore more updates to come  soon :happy2:

:congrats: Great job you've done there, well worth the blood, sweat and tears. I'd love to restore a Mk1 but don't really have the time. I used to have a Lhasa Green one but sold it about 10 years ago, wish I hadn't now :sad1:

Yeah... preferably porsche or bbs split rims, and they must fit very badly and have stupid stretch on the tyres.   ( they have to be at least 2x the value of the car too)

Little update....

The windscreen started leaking majorly at the bottom where it had been replaced and the seal didn't appear to have sealed  :signLOL: Called the windscreen people back and they have now sealed it up so that should be the end of that!

Picked up a first aid box holder on ebay earlier in the week as mine was missing

Smoked front/side indicators now fitted so it looks much cleaner

Rocker gasket now replaced with a rubber one from a MK3 (after much fuss with getting new studs as the existing ones are for cork gaskets only!)

Bit of paintwork done, but only a tie over till I have a chance to spend some proper time sorting it out

More updates to come soon!  :happy2:
