I expect that you already know that anything to do with DSG and Mechatronics Module is automatically bumped up a level to VW UK and the dealers don't carry any stock of DSG parts.

Update: It's not mecha or anything expensive like that, it's a sporadic fault with the selector lever (not the gearknob btw, but the actual lever). The fault that occured on Friday seems to be due to my letting it roll a bit in P on an incline, the computer got confused and decided to curl up and hide (hence the loss of drive). Replacement part is around £400, but as it's sporadic (and the first time it's occured) they've suggested just keeping an eye on it and they'll only change the part if it happens again. I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious.

I did notice after my accident last year that it didn't lock into reverse as positively.

Ultrafail:
Was driving to work with my confidence restored. 50mph on a single lane A-road, flashing PRNDS all of a sudden, loss of power, traffic behind, traffic in front. Hazards on, coast to the side of the road, onto the pavement, power off.
Key won't come out. sh*t.
Try to turning the car on again. No engine turn, just that horrible flashing PRNDS. Doublesh*t.
Eventually after much cursing and pusing of the button on the knob, the lever locked into P and I was able to restart the car.
Gently get back onto the road and start making my way to VW, having called work to say I'll be late.
Whilst I'm driving along again, PRNDS flash, car coasts, but then picks up all by itself again. Behaves itself all the way to VW, and no CEL.

Presume it's still a problem with the position sensor on the lever; will probably warrant the replacement now as it could've been quite hairy if it'd lost power on the motorway.

Just got off the phone with VW, they have recommended replacing the selector lever and as best practice also the brake switch. Total cost of £490-ish, they're not charging me for labour which is nice of them. Hopefully I'll get the car back tomorrow in the evening, which means a quick phone call to Adrian Flux to see if they can transfer my insurance to my brother's Polo for the day.

Lever and brake sensor changed, car drove home alright... driving to London tomorrow, we'll see what she's like on the M4  :chicken:
