GTI wannabe
« on: August 16, 2011, 08:15:10 pm »
Hi folks, ive just bought a black 04 GT TDI 140 with 18" Monzas and would like to make it look like a GTI (on the outside for starters) just wondering if people could give me any tips in doing this and avise me everything i need, i also figure i would be better putting lowering springs on it as with the standard springs and 18's on it, it scrubs a bit when i've got passengers in it, any tips people ??

What front end have you got on yours? Any pics?

You will need:

GTI / GT Front bumper (depending on your existing bumper)
GTI honeycombe grilles (Top, Middle and Fogs) easily found on ebay
GTI front splitter
GTI Side Skirts (ebay or TPS)
GTI rear bumper / spoiler (ebay or TPS) and a new back box
Roof Spoiler

If you do a search, im sure you will find the part numbers!

Vagen gti bumper is definately the way to go it comes with the front splitter and fits straight on. You have an early GT TDi like me so an original will not fit without major work. I bought the side skirts and rear bumper valance from VW bottom part of the bumper was only about £40. I had a custom back box fitted by MIJ in Birmingham for around £150  . Eibach sport line springs drop the car 40-50mm bought my set from AwesomeGTI and there's no rubbing issues on 18's even with a car full. Found a rear spoiler on eBay it was a genuine part but not exactly the same as on the GTI, they have the brake light built in. Then there's the interior!! I've got the R32 trim which cost a small fortune. If you change one thing change your steering wheel for the flat bottom one, loads turn up on eBay  :drinking:

You will just need to weld it, any garage should be able to do it!
