Remap in the Berkshire/Surrey area
« on: July 22, 2011, 09:45:56 pm »
Hello all,
My first post so please be very gentle  :innocent:
Picking up my first GTI tomorrow, an '05 with 51K miles. It has a Milltek cat-back exhaust and I am planning on getting a stage 1 remap purely to annoy some Audi drivers  Can anyone recommend a tuner not too far from Sunningdale? All the posts I've read suggest 240bhp is the norm for stage 1 but should I expect more with the uprated exhaust? Thanks.

240hp is bang on the money, cat back exhaust will gan you no power at all, only noise.

A friend of mine owns a tuning company near you, very clued up on the TFSi as well and has a dyno.

Call and speak to Jason, although his website is geared up to show his BMW expertise, he is also a Revo dealer and you wont find a more friendly helpfull guy in the trade :happy2:

I weighed up the options and ended up going to Simon at AMD Woking. Got the map but guess what? My DV is shot. I realise it was shot ever since I got the car so I probably wasn't anywhere near 197bhp in the first place. The new DV is ordered and is getting fitted Saturday. I'm expecting good things  :happy2:

Picked the car up on Saturday and I'm blown away with the power increase. I guess it was well below 197bhp before it was mapped due to the DV but now its all sorted its a complete animal. Feels much faster than my 2.7 Cayman in a straight line. Highly recommended

Simon at AMD Woking is a good chap, just had my service done there and cambelt change.

Will be using them for some future mods too  :happy2:
