Water meth- does anyone run it?
« on: August 18, 2011, 05:44:12 pm »
I'm finding myself getting getting more and more tempted by the benefits of running a water methanol kit. Does anyone on here run one as I've not seen any posts lately and what do you think for everyday driving?

I bought a Labonte S4 kit but ended up not fitting.  Partly because of lack of known / trusted tuners where I am in Germany and also Im not 100% happy with my software as it is, dont want to further complicate things, rather just go for new Mapping 1st.  The Apr I have isnt adjustable either to help map to the W/Meth kit

Revo would be well suited to a W/Meth kit

Sell me it  :drinking:
I would run it with the Stage 2+ map and would not get the map changed for it. I would be just happy to run lower octane fuel and take advantage of lower intake temps and possibly better mpg.

I think there is a long term issue with wm in our engines as it seems to cause premature failure of the throttle body motor depending on where abouts you spray the meth.
Without traction power is nothing!

I can't remember who I sold it to but I'd be interested in seeing the results

Yeah I had read that happened in one case, something to do with a plastic throttle slide.

Yep, but if it is injected after, either by direct port or using one of the Throttle/manifold adaptor plates, then the issue should be resolved.

Apparently  :signLOL:

Hmm I'll look into that but it sounds more complicated and expensive  :scared:

The bsh throttle body pipe is one ready-made solution.

This would still pass the Butterfly valve though in the throttle body

Not more complicated to be honest.  Seen them for about $70-80

Yup but the only way to bypass the butterfly flap is to drill port(s) for the injector(s) in the intake manifold itself.

Can use one of these.
