i just read this on yahoo.  they are based at RAF Scampton, literally a couple of miles from me.  this sort of thing just doesn't happen to them...fingers x'd everyone ok.

BBC's just said the MoD's confirmed the pilot was killed in the incident :sad1:

Possibly he was too low. Ejection seats are only effective above a certain altitude. There may be other factors we don't know about. Or, he may have been trying to regain control of the aircraft. All speculation at this point.

My guess is he was trying to steer it away from houses or a built up area.  :sad1:
