Battery,Starting,Voltage Problems
« on: August 21, 2011, 03:46:40 pm »
Hi
I'm looking for some help my car has trouble starting because the battery voltage is not enough when i turn the ignition on,i get 11.5V before starting which i am led to believe is no where near enough yet it's getting even worse it is now saying 10.9V :scared:
when i start the car i am getting 14.1/13.8 give or take!!!

now i have checked with other people with the same cars they are getting on ignition 12.5V which is a huge difference and when started even 14.4V so...

darren came up for a visit last weekend and he changed my starting motor and it has made no difference i have even changed the coolant temp sensor and no change with that either so I'm just wondering do i have a DUD battery or could it be something else?

we also checked the can gateway and checked that everything was being shut down(sleep mode) which it is!!!

also the battery was only bought last november so you would think it should surely be ok(bought from vw) but something is draining it.

when the ignition voltage is so low the car really struggles to start also it feels like the engine is ready to jump out of the car and it sometimes has a flat battery and i also get a message on the RNS 510 saying this device will now shut down to save the cars battery when the ignition is just on or if i just turn on the RNS without ignition, with all the mods that have been added should i maybe have a stronger battery(honestly i don't think so)

the car is booked into vw tomorrow and they are going to be fully charging it overnight and then see whats going on with it in the morning,I'm kind of shi**ing myself as what the labour costs might be but i really need to get to the bottom of this because when winter comes in the batteries hate the cold so i probably won't even get it started  :sad1:

can anyone help or has anyone experienced this with there car?

cheers
