Where to buy tyres in London?
« on: August 20, 2011, 11:03:40 pm »
Hi all,

I recently moved to London and I need two tyres. Where is the best place to get tyres preferebly in north London, but I would travel a bit further to get a place that definitey wont scratch the wheels.

TIA

dartford tyres 2000, the crayford branch does online prices, can get any tyre in next day, do alot of track tyre fitting, and have always fitted my tyres which have a stiff sidewall without issue or scratch.

Bit of a trek for you, will ask my north london mates on facebook where is good closer to you though.

Do you have a link to their prices? I can't find it...

Elite in Rainham Essex are very good, both very competitively priced and the fitter have never put a mark on any of my wheels, I have used them about 5 times now  :happy2:

tyre shopper or blackcircles both very competitive and will give you an idea from your postcode of the garages in your area.

get the tyres off camskill and pay someone to fit. you won't get it cheaper than that

Do people usually mind doing this? Is it more of a cash in hand job?

Plenty of (smaller) places will fit them, normally for about £10 a tyre.

When you find a good fitter - ie one that knows how to fit a tyre without marking the rim or using knock on weights  :sad1: then it is a good idea to keep them in business  :happy2:

I have used Dartford Tyres for over 20 + yrs now as I worked in the area and have always found them competitive , although with the number of online companies now i'm not sure if they are still competitive without checking .

What tyres did you end up going for out of interest and how much were they . I also need some tyres so have been looking around.

Cheers Mark
