Sorry to hikack the thread, but do you know if you can these be retro fitted to a non multi function dsg steering wheel ?
Probably not the answer some readers of this post wanted, but i took a trip to the dealers yesterday for a DSG service and to have cruise control retrofitted. So I took the opportunity to have the recently purchased multifunction steering wheel buttons fitted at the same tie [which was done FOC]. Therefore I cannot comment on how hard or easy the process is... but from what the mechanic said... they simply plug in with no required coding. So as my car is an MY08 Ed30 with DSG, it is as simple as people have been saying on here.I purchased mine from Germany on this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260825466644?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 [hope this works] and can recommend him as i bought them on the monday and they were fitted on the Saturday... all prompt and as described. The funtions all work excpet for the phone button... but that is because I do not have that option on my car.Hope this helps?
They fitted the cruise control for the list price of 165 all in, and as i provided the multifamily function buttons the simply plugged them in for free as the blank panels were taken off when fitting the cruise control
Gladiator, there are plenty of us who can fit these for you. Fitting mine via MortyGTTDi cost £10. The dealer is going to zap you for a lot more than that. It is actually a simple DIY job, if you fancy a go. There's a guide on here somewhere I think...
Graeme, have you a DSG with paddle shift? Unless the answer is 'yes' you're on a hiding to nothing. If you do, then all you need are the correct button inserts (there are two types, for early & late cars) then it's fit & go.
I'd send Kalu a pm, he's Hertfordshire based, and very handy indeed
