Trip down to knockhill
« on: August 18, 2011, 12:30:11 pm »
Hey

Was down at Knockhill at the weekend, my girl friends uncle got me some free tickets as he's on the team for one of the mini drivers. I thought it would be a good chance to try out racing photography, only really taken pictures of still cars.

It was a Scottish Motor Racing Club event with Minis, Formula Fords, Legends and more.

I've read a little bit about racing photography so I sort of knew what I needed to do to get the shots I wanted, I'm pretty happy how they turned out seeing as its my first go.

All the photos are on my flickr Page if you want to have a better look, I've put them into their groups and my top 50.

Here are a few of my favourites from the day

Any comments or advice welcomed!

Cheers for looking, any advice, questions or comments welcome

Brilliant photos!  What camera are you using? I haven't been down to Knockhill since last years BTCC but that looks to have been quite a varied and interesting day. Nice to see all those old fiestas!

Would I be right in thinking I've spotted your car on Esslemont Ave before (silver tdi with carbon grill)?

Saw your car in the top carpark Joe :happy2: I was parked across from the stand, black Golf with dark CH's we only just got there as the drift cars came out...

I missed the collision with the Legends and the coming together of the 2 mini's  some good racing though,

Darren

Very nice it is too! I walk home from work up Esslemont and have admired it a few times.

Update:

Going down to the Grampian karting open day at Boyndie on Sunday so I've decided I'll hire a lens for the weekend

So what lens did I go for......the canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II USM

Got it Thursday - Tuesday for only £71, not bad for a £1900 lens.

Should give me some time to practice and get some shots of my own car.

Also the main reason I was posting was if anyone on here was keen for going out and getting some snaps of their motors? Be a shame not to make use of it.
