Main reason, I'm looking at a new one, but there seems to be sooooo many people classing a TDI as a GT model!

What makes you think they're not GT's ?

Lol. Yeah you're right, the 1.9s just say TDI where as the GT will say 2.0 TDI. But if its a GT then body bumper strips will be colour coded, but then again the TDI Sport would have this too.

Best way 'log book' ?

If it say's 2.0 TDI on the rear, fully colour coded, this should be a GT?

Yeah log book should say for sure. I can't remember if my GT said '2.0' on the engine cover...

Also, GTs come standard with fog lights, Sports don't unless if ticked as an option.

TDI - this would be the 1.9tdi, 103bhp.
TDI SPORT - again, its the 1.9tdi 103bhp, the 'SPORT" just refers to the trim level eg it comes with alloys, coloured body bumpers etc.(Other trim levels are 'S', 'SE')
GT TDI - this is the 2.0tdi engine, early (non facelift) 2004/05 models are usually 140 version.

 :happy2:

Mine is 2.0tdi 140bhp...on the v5 it's a Sport TDI.
How can I add the 'GT' on my v5? lol...It'l look better with the GT

VW < Why do they make things soooooo complicated???

Since owning and looking for a new Golf, I have to say it's a mine field......so many versions, specs, editions - and it's the same with retro fits. So many factors to take into account depending on which month and day it was built  :signLOL:

There is a portion of the V5 which you can send to DVLA to amend details, when we received the log book back for swmbo's car it stated it was a 3 door when its definitely got 5!  Filled out the form sent it off, a week later a new V5 arrived which was correct.  :happy2:

Mines a GT Sport. I Think you got black headlights, rear tints, heated leather seats and AC as standard? Also 312mm front brakes and GTI suspension but could be wrong. Plus the grill badge says GT with sport under it and not just GT like the earlier GT's. Engine stays the same through out 2.0 140PD.

When I was searching for a GT I was lead to believe the sport version was an inferior model??  If your right I wish I'd known as it would have saved me money on the lights, tints and 312mm brakes.... :sad1:

I'm another with a 55 reg 'Golf GT TDI' on the logbook.

I'm sure I once read that it was only marketed as this in the UK, whereas in other European countries it was a 2.0 TDI Sport?
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Its not a Sport but a GT Sport MY2008/9. To be honest I'm not entirely sure when all these models were introduced. I was under the impression that the sport was superseded by a GT then a GT with GTI front bumper, 17" wheels then GT Sport in last year(s) of the Mk5 with a few extras listed above. Again this all just my wee brain speculating!

Totalling digressing, but how do you find ride comfort with the -30mm springs?  Has it changed much from standard?

Back on topic.... :ashamed:
