BMW always do the trick of making the ES/SE a bit meh, so you upgrade to the nicer looking M-Sport. Bargains to be had with the old shape soon though, as you say.

As much as I loved the ED30, this is a totally different car in every respect.. RWD is definitely more fun, although I am far from getting the car near it's limits. As Mike says, you really need to learn how to drive these cars before poking them with a stick. But that is all part of the fun imo..
Mine has the newer single turbo engine and I have averaged, near as makes no difference, 30mpg over the last 10k. That's with a lot of motorway mileage, mixed with wringing it's neck when not cruising. On a run I normally manage anywhere between 34-39mpg (mapped)
BMWP parts are lush, but expect to dig deep into your wallet. I have just settled for the CF spoiler and front grills for now. But can see me adding a few other bits at some point.
But the best bit of the car for me has to be the noise of the thing. You would never believe it still has a stock exhaust. Especially when starting it in the morning..

How did it go at Rockingham anyway Mike? Did you keep her facing the right way? 

My rears will be changed shortly and will be sacking off the RFT's promptly. What are your thoughts on the switch? Is it a lot better? I need to change mine soon, i'm running out of fillings.. 
What brand and  sizes did you end up with too?

Awesome fun, took me about 2-3 sessions to get to grips with where the limit was and from there on it was sideways-a-go-go! Thankfully kept it tidy and it was faster than the Golf around there too, which surprised me.

I've got Goodyear Asym 2s. 225/40/18 F and 255/35/18 R, came in about £520 with a bit of discount from a mate, but they're not much more retail.

Truck loads of grip. Turn in much better, ride better, control better - I see no downsides. Ran them all day on track too with no problems.

Mine has pretty much everything, and I think the options do make a nicer car. Logic 7 & Pro Nav, xenons, red leather etc etc. There's quite a lot of nice stuff in the BMW Performance catalogue too, I've added the carbon rear spoiler and shortshift kit. Quite fancy the alcantara steering wheel II, but £500?.

BMWP bits - hundreds of them, including remaps that don't affect warranty. You'd spend serious money!!

Thats where it helps to know a nice man who works for BMW with a 30% discount on BMWP bits :D

I got 20% off mine as I have a mate who works in service. Spoke to 2 other dealers/retailers who reckon they wouldn't make a bean if they gave me 20% off. 30% is great work if you can get it mate..

Loads of 225/40/18 PS2s about, but I couldn't find any 255/35s at the time - the reviews of the GY and the niggling of having to find another PS2 if I wrecked one swang it.

Ideally I wanted Pilot Supersports, but sizing is still oddballs only at the moment. I'll pobs have them next.

Good point to be fair. Might just stick with something that's readily available.. I know the TTRS boys rave over the PSS' and from what I read are the replacement for PS2's (IIRC).. Don't think they're cheap mind..
