Driven wheels put down more grip by virtue of the torques being sent through them. In this case the front wheels.

You can also assist grip to the back by adding weight or camber, if the camber setting isn't already optimal. Or of course through downforce if you wanna slap on a massive comedy spoiler  :signLOL:

But if you drive normally, rather than competitively on the track then the above probably aren't necessary

What's the first few letters of the VIN (don't post it all),oh and as said before best tyres on the rear on the GTI

yes it has an alarm.  no stamp in what i think is the pdi section, it has full vw history, the first stamp being at 12k...probably looking like a european parallel import i reckon...which is fine, my mk4 gt tdi pd130 came direct from Holland to the UK to its first owner.

i have checked out all the option codes and the first one on the sticker turns out to be this...

B0N = Component parts set, complying with vehicle type for Great Britain, various parts

does that shed light on parallel import or not?

i always thought the advice was that the driven wheels should have the better tread.  there's not a great deal of difference between front and rear tyres but enough to make me think that i would rather have more tread at the front.  i know what you mean about the rear though, however i think it would have to be a pretty dynamic event to have the rear come round, i dont think simply the tread would make that happen.

i have just checked a vin decoder and i dont know that the vin gives any answers to be honest.  it states it was built at Wolfsburg however, so that's good.

Press the quote button for each post you want to quote. They appear in the quick reply window at the bottom. Alternatively, open each quote in a new tab and copy and paste them into one window.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
