Well, I had my DSG serviced [oil and filter change] yesterday and the dealer would not perform the reset mentioned on here, they simply reset the DSG back to basic settings, which has improved but not resolved the sluggish gear changes when cold... ot commonly dropping down to 3rd ....

Think a trip to a friendly VCDS owner is on the cards soon.

The one question I do have is on the specified test drive after the DSG reset has been performed... does the drive have to be sequentially from 1 - 6 (using tiptronic mode) or does it cause issues if I'm forced to change gears up and down during the drive???  obviously I will do the specified time in 3rd or 5th and 4th or 6th....

Just drive normally, and make sure you spend the required time in 3/5 and 4/6. It's best done on a dual carriageway with a national speed limit or motorway. But as long as the accumulated time in gear meets the requirements, you're good. It's no problem if, say, halfway through your fifth gear cruise, you have to negotiate a roundabout, then continue. :happy2:

I'd ask a VCDS owner near you; you'll generally have time to do the reset yourself, and ask questions. Plus it won't cost what a garage would charge!

See: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.0.html

If you're anywhere near East Yorks I'll do the reset for you no problem, no charge.

Has anyone else has these symptons with their DSG....  the drive I use over night is on an angle and if I have to reverse off i.e. up the angle, I have to give give a few revs [or let the clutch pull the car on it's own] in order to get it moving.... equally in the morning the DSG seems a bit sluggish to move from 1st to 2nd, and when in D the shifts from 2nd to 3rd aren't exactly the smoothest.... however when warmed up all seems well.

I was thinking of getting it reset after reading a few posts  on here, but having spoken to my local Tuner (Triple H Motorsport), he suggested having it serviced and an oil change first.... the car's an MY08 Ed30 with Revo stg 1 and 26k on the clock....

Any thoughts would be great :happy2:
sorry but my thoughts too, sounds like mine a year ago ,reset didnt work but a new mechatronics unit and she is now lovely
Mechatronics unit possibly on it's way out...is the car still under warranty?

The DSG reset you talk of and Basic Settings are one in the same. I'm not aware of another type of DSG reset but am willing to be proved wrong.

If you have had the DSG serviced then they will have performed this as part of that. It is also the first step in guided fault finding by VW.
