Megane Renaultsport cup 250
« on: August 29, 2011, 02:24:57 pm »
Someone at work has one. 250bhp from standard and apparently it "torque steers" (not convinced).

Looks very nice from the outside, in an orange kind of colour.

Anyone tried one? How does it handle compared to the Golf?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

It'll be diff tug, not torque steer. As it shifts power between sides in search of grip, it can feel a bit like it's tugging at the wheel.

It'll leave a Golf in pretty much any state of chassis tune for dead, straight out of the box.

There'll always be the anti-French putting them down, but they're a million times better now than the previous generation Megane. They're built well, they're well equipped and feel a bit more grown up. Still depreciate badly mind, so rent one or get a 12 month old version.

agree with the above sentiments...a car worthy of respect.  i was looking seriously at these to replace the Prodrive STi, but felt they were just as hardcore so thought the GTi was the better allround car.

Wow. Figured it was something special when the girl at work mentioned the Cup 250 bit. Maybe I should keep the ED30 away from her.

It's what I really wanted but bought the Golf instead because of depreciation

The brakes and chassis are amazing and the engine remaps to about 320hp like an Ed30.

As said, it'll smoke a standard Golf with ease

I had an R26 previously and I miss its handling so much, but the build was naff

As opposed to seat! Lol, Renaultsport have always been good,  and to be honest the newer ones are a bit lame compared to previous years, the nurburgring certainly sells cars.

Typing the reg into moneysupermarket.com brings out this: RENAULT MEGANE 2005-2010 Petrol 2.0L Manual 3 doors RENAULTSPORT CUP

It looks like this: clicky
