i am in the process of buying a highline , i have been told i need to match the part number with a 7. is there an easy way of finding the part number without taking the speedo out??

Scan with VCDS. If you don't have it it takes 20 secs to pull the cluster.

No mate,

Just lower the steering wheel to the lowest position and pull it as far is it will go.

Remove the trim infront of the cluster, undo the 2 screws and slide it out.

FYI you don't need to match your highline to your midline.

I had a 962 midline and replaced it with a 971 highline....

No mate,

Just lower the steering wheel to the lowest position and pull it as far is it will go.

Remove the trim infront of the cluster, undo the 2 screws and slide it out.

FYI you don't need to match your highline to your midline.

I had a 962 midline and replaced it with a 971 highline....

Then plug highline in, VCDS, and job done? Thought it was much harder than that!!

No that is not how to fit a highline! Well its is but along with a bit of coding.

 The OP wanted to know how to get the part number of his existing cluster without using VCDS............
