I use Parada Spec 2's on a JCW MINI Cooper S and in the dry they are great (and good value, just had 2 more) - in the wet they are not the best but if you dont drive like a pill in the wet the are not that bad.  Saying that though every car is different, what is good on a smaller car is not always great on a larger/heavier car.

I wouldn't waste matches burning them, absolute crap. Had them on the Speedlines for a fortnight and got rid.

Useless when cold, useless when wet, de-laminate when hot. My daily PS2s had better track manners. Utter fail of a tyre.

Paradas were the worst tyres I've ever used and I would never go back to them.

Deffo look at the rs2's.

 :happy2:

Federal 595 RS-R are crap as well. Mine have the splicing issues like many other Federal owners.

There are enough prooved options for light track and fast road use:

- Yokohama AD08 (!!!!)
- Hankook R-S2 / R-S3
- Kumho XS KU36
- Toyo R1-R
- Bridgestone RE070 (unfortunately 225/45 R17 + 20'' only)
- Dunlop Direzza Sport z1 Starspec (avail. in the USA)
- Dunlop SP600

I've been in a Megane and 4-motion on track wearing Yokohama AD08's - they're a very, very good intermediate tyre.  :happy2:

Not heard anything bad about those Federals too. Sy, do you remember the tyre van that was on track at Rockingham?? He's part of the Mazdaontrack.co.uk scene and he sells those 595s very cheap. Worth an ask, I'll try and remember his name..
Sideways yo!

On the German ''Touristenfahrerforum.de'' there's a huge thread
about splicing Federal 595 RS-R. My Federals have this problem as well.

Need to be a member to view the thread unfortunately...

I've got 6 RS-Rs which were all bought used and none have this issue, i have read about it somewhere though but sure that the concensus was that it didnt affect tyre performance?

If i were in your shoes i'd be snapping up 4 16" steelies from a MK4 golf, rattle can them white and throw on some proper track tyres, will probably fit 4 abreast in your boot for the trip to and from the trackday and cheaper to buy than the equivalent 17" rubber...

Ive been thinking about this, and its actually a pretty good idea.  And there is a fairly large saving to be had on the tyres as well.  Had a look on ebay but only found one 16" wheel for VAG.  Anyone know any good places to find some 16" steel rims.

There's tons of 5 x 100 16" steelies on ebay but only 1 or 2 full sets that i can find unfortunately...
Decent local breaker should have something VAG and boring with 16s on though and will probably be made up to get rid lol

These would work though... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-GOLF-MARK-4-16-INCH-5-STUD-WHITE-ALLOY-WHEEL-/150641648894?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2312f124fe#ht_500wt_922
