Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to the forum and last week took delivery of my black '08 Pirelli with DSG. This is my third GTi after owning a 'H plate mk 2 16 valve for years and an '07 candy white mk 5 from new. After having the candy white GTi for two years, I went to a 335i coupe, a 2.0T TT, a 2.0T A5 coupe and am now gladly back in a GTi.
The Pirelli is fully loaded with RNS510, bluetooth, MFW, folding mirrors, cruise etc.... but there are still some mods I'd like to do starting off with a remap.
Having trawled through the very informative forum and then on several company websites, I've narrowed my remapping options down to Shark Performance, Revo or Blue Fin.
In terms of performance mods the most I want to do is get a remap, a performance exhaust and an induction kit so which remap do you think is best for the KO4 engine? Just like everyone, I want the biggest BHP/torque gains possible for the money, but more important than outright pace for me is for the car to feel very smooth and driveable in town, with the remap being unnoticable unless you put your foot down. Reliability is also key and I wouldn't want to be running around in a car with any warning lights on particularily as it's my only car and my daily driver.
Shark Performance are charging £449 for the map and claim 300bhp. If I went with Shark I'd go down to their premises to get them to set the car up. Bluefin is £462 delivered and claim 287bhp. Revo (fitted via JKM) costs £660 (including K&N Panel filter and a new diverter valve) and the claim is 279bhp.
The cost difference between the three isn't a problem, I want the map that is the most drivable and reliable whilst still offering significant performance gains over the standard car. Your thoughts and experiences would be much appreciated.
Cheers guys!
Spencer
