Lol easy dom, mitchelin on the rear and polishing cheap tyres off that were on the car when i bought it, but yes even with 2 budget tyres on it totally wipes the floor with the golf's cornering but can't match the straight line speed of the stage 2 + golf.

Stage 1 rstuning + evo 10 apexi induction filter.

Only had one German car and its been the most unreliable car I've owned.

I've also only ha one French car, a 1996 Pug 106 xsi and I have known every single owner from new. It got scrapped last week as a matter of fact with 230,000 on the clock and the only reson it was scrapped is the part out priced the car.

It just goes to shiw its the luck of the draw with motors, regardless of nationality.

Some of the badge snobbery you get does actually make me laugh.

VAG are no better when it comes to reliability than the likes of ford, renault etc.  Where VAG excel is with the quality 'feel' and high residuals of the car which people misconstrue as bullet proof reliability.

I have had over 10 fords of which i only ever had a problem with one, which blew an engine because of me.

I had an Audi Coupe in pristine Condition with 13 years Audi Service history with less than 60k on the clock, yet it cost me so much to repeatedly get repaired that i had to sell it.  The diesel VAG engines have huge issues with DPFs, blown turbos.  With the TFSI you had issues with DVs, coilpacks, fuelpumps, the 1.4TSi has huge issues with injectors failing, pistons melting, and engines blowing up.

I genuinely drive around in mine waiting for something to fail, such is the frequency of the new failed engine posts on the forums at the moment

VAg aren't all that.

The 1.8T was pretty much bullet proof, the 1.4 and 2.0TFSI are flawed however on that I would agree.
