Nearly finished, thoughts on final tweeks !
« on: September 04, 2011, 08:03:11 am »
Current Spec

Pirelli 58 3 door.

Chassis :
Bilstein  PSS10, WALK, TT alloy lower arms and ball joints, TD 8x18, VWR front brakes, neuspeed ARB's, All camber and ride heights tweeked adjusted and now finished.

Engine:
TT bottom engine mount, Miltek TBE, REVO stage 2, K&N panel filter, Forge DV, Neuspeed quickshift.

I am unhappy with the vibration of the THS bottom mount, would like to see how I can reduce wheel hop and manage vibration ?
Quite interested in Whiteline bumpsteer kit to be fitted at the same time ?
I also find the engine seems particularly sweet and crisp most of the time but occasionally seems a little fluffy, is it worth changing the Forge DV for a late original DV ?

Tks for thoughts

IMHO I would be running the latest revision DV over the Forge one.  :happy2:

Have you thought about running some "semi-track" tyres? More grip should equal less or no wheel hop.

Yoko ad08 or maybe Hankook rs2?

Stickier tyres can create more wheel hop I've found.  All depends how much power you are running too.

The hankook rs2 tyres are now discontinued.  The rs3 replacements are not UK road legal.  Damn annoying as they were a top cheap track tyre.

@ OP

What was your final Geometry settings?

I have the TT arms & ball joints going on this week, along with the bumpsteer kit

I'm lowered on 30mm H&R springs, Bilstein B8's and running 7.5J 18 OEM monzas with WALK also

Any help would be much apperciated as i've read all previous threads on this subject but am none the wiser :stupid:

Yeah i suppose your right. I was just thinking along the lines of.... Sticky tyres - more grip - shouldn't lose traction as easily.

Well, I had one on mine did loads of logging and when compared against the latest oem dv I saw that the OEM was holding boost better than the Forge. Could be a nuance on my car, so not necessarily something that everyone would see. This was particularly at the top end.

More grip will cause the engine to rock back more violently on acceleration which causes the 'hop' sensation which breaks the traction of the tyre, so ECU cuts power to regain traction, engine goes forwards again for the sequence to repeat.

I definitely had more wheel hop when i moved to stickier tyres.

Thanks I changed the spring on my forge but may try a revision DV to see if there is a difference

What kind of pressures are you getting & what state of tune?  :happy2:

If you're happy at that I'd willingly try one to see the difference...

Dom, hi

I'll check the one that came off, a late 08 Pirelli might have a late version ?
