cheers. what would cause such a big difference in boost actual to requested?

If you are not the original owner then the previous owner may have tweaked the oem actuator pre-tension or replaced it with a forge one.

Yeah one previous owner was a woman so doubt it's been tampered with. Could this cause any damage?

What sort of boost are you seeing bearing in mind that the standard gti map sensor can only measure pressure up to 2580mbar as seen in vcds?

990 is fine on idle. its the actual atmospheric pressure. I dont think I've ever seen it go any lower than that

Strange, I have logs that show actual boost as  2860mb :stupid:

The standard gti has a 2.5mbar map sensor. iirc the ed30 has a 3mbar one.

The boost will always sit at 1000mbar the requested is only a minimum :happy2: i.e boost limit too low...

On a mapped car it would probably show 2540mbar at max on VCDS, your car is fine Russ just get the plugs changed and or the coilpacks, VW will do the coils under warranty re the recall notice.
