Help, LED number plate lights
« on: September 05, 2011, 09:24:35 pm »
Just wondering if anyone has got a link to any LED's that have actually worked on the rear number plate bulbs. I believe they are 39mm fastoon ones, ordered a normal set which didnt work so they are now in the vanity mirror/sun visor lights lol.

Ordered a second set that are canbus etc.. they work when 1 LED is in and one normal, but when i put both in they go on for a second or two then off :(

What people used that have worked?

Cheers

Mike, I'm glad you said this. I wanted to clarify this and this gives me the opportunity  :happy2: Topman!

I know you have these in your Cupra and Carl uses them in the vRS - are they definitely tried and tested in the MK5 too?
I bought some considerably cheaper LED bulbs from Xtec and they didn't fool the canbus, I had a dash error and the bulb illumination for both was disabled by the system.

Are the £15 ones guaranteed to work for us GTI owners?
Thanks.
Pete

I've ordered and fitted these mate.  Work a treat and look brilliant - really bright and defined.

No error codes and a sinch to fit!

What are the most reliable number plate LED's for a 2011 car? I understand in 2011 the electrical systems have become more sensitive.  :stupid:

^ Indeed Mike, I've seen you recommend them a few times with a good experience :happy2:

I just wonder if the canbus firmware in your later Leon would differ to my 06' GTI and lead to me finding errors/it deactivating them like it did with the cheap bulbs I tried :sad1: ?
