Wobble when idle normal?
« on: September 08, 2011, 09:32:18 am »
I've had my GTI for a month now and this has been happening for the whole month. Not too worried and sure it's normal but when I have the car running idle at traffic lights etc I can feel a wobble/vibration, from the engine, going through the base of my seat. Nothing major just a wee tremor everynow and again. Is this normal?

PS The has just had the coil packs changed and ESP pump changed, so it has has been run through vagcom.

Aha. So true. The car is under warranty for another 2 months so it would also be good to get niggling issues out of the way, just for peace of mind.

If mine still has the original PCV will it be doing any damage?

no, but it will it would idle like a pig, and if you have dsg, when sat stationary in D, you'd feel it vibrate due to the idle speed being too slow on idle.

I changed mine, and found it idle'd better sat stationary, ie at the lights with my foot on the brake. Normally you can feel if its in Gear, but after i replaced my PCV, i had a job to tell what gear i was in!.

Its only £35 quid. Takes less then 10 minutes to fit, and if yours is the origonal, proberly worth you changing it. Have a look at your service receipts if i were you.

What is the latest version of the PCV unit? and how do I know which version I have?
Also would this ever throw up the engine warning light?
