My 1.4 Scirocco does it too. Sounds like it's very common across models and engines. Weird!

A simple way to check if your PCV is working properly is to pull the dipstick out slightly when the engine is idling and if the revs start hunting up and down, you know its ok.

Just removed my dipstick @ idle...

Made no difference, still the odd hiccup and fart and pop...

Taking mine to the dealers this week so they can run a few tests. There is also a misfire so could be a few things. Fingers crossed I don't have to part with any money. Need to keep that for mods, not just keeping the car running.

when i removed by dipstick the engine went to stall and when i ran vcds i had an air leak fault code.
