Help I just curbed my alloy's (fixed)
« on: September 03, 2011, 03:04:16 pm »
I could kick myself. I'm usually very careful but today I pulled up to the curb and scuffed one of my rim's. The damage aint that bad , just a scuff but it's gonna really annoy me until I get it sorted. I know I could pay a pro to do it but its a small mark so dont seem worth paying anyone. Is there a good DIY kit anyone could recomend me. I have standard edition30 pescara alloys.

Halfrauds do a repair kit but TBH it wouldn't match. I'd just stick on some clear lacquer to prevent any further deterioration and then shell out for a refurb for two wheels. You will never get 100% match with one wheel.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

As it's only aluminium , I would light sand it by hand and fill it with the nearest colour silver.

I brought some silver that's the nearest match to the pescara silver, which isn't available, in a spray can though, but what I done was spray it into a small cup and hand paint it to improve it.

Your welcome to it, as I no longer run pescara's on my ed30, and your welcome to it fella.

Pm me if you want

Steve

For my first attempt im quite pleased with the result. I think i may end up sanding it down again and respraying but overall not too bad. The pescara silver spray (from SaintSteve cheers matey) is a pretty good match, not 100% but very very close.  :happy2:

that's not a bad effort at all  :happy2: Far better than looking at the nastyness of a kerbed rim
