Stinking sweaty cheesy sock smelling air con
« on: September 10, 2011, 12:57:53 am »
The smell comes and goes when running the air con, is there anything else I can do apart from flush and re-gas? Is there a filter somewhere that I can change? Kwik fit yes kwik fit!! Flushed and re charged twice but the smell still comes back

kwick don't know what they are doing--the air con will be stale and regassing won't help it needs a air con bomb in it first and also a new filter

You can get a new pollen filter. Old one is underneath the glovebox. There's a guide somewhere but on iPhone. Replace the filter and run an aircon Cleaner TBH I did the above two - filter didn't make any difference as it had been recently replaced. Aircon cleaner lastes 2-3 weeks max. At the mo, I turn off the aircon and let fresh air blast through the vents in the last few minutes of a drive.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Check underneath the car and see if there is a small water drop coming out from underneath the car when the air connhas been running for a while, you may have a blocked condensor pipe wich will give you the problem you've got as the old condensed water sits in there and it bloody smells  :signLOL:
