New owner of 1.9 TDi - pics up!
« on: September 10, 2011, 09:51:07 am »
Hello. my name is James based in the Milton Keynes area and am going to own a '55 plate Golf TDi as of next week- as long as VW don't manage to cock it up again  :stupid:

After browsing aimlessly around some forum dedicated to Mk5's based in USA?  :scared:   i found this one through another forum also complaining about lack of MK5 decent forums lol!

anyway, although it isn't a GTI, when i do get the car will post up some pics and get some progress as and when money allows...

So, Hey!

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome :) glad i'm not the only sooty member who stumbled in!  :drinking:

out of interest for looking into alloys- whats the PCD / Offset  or even easier whats a nice set that can be gotten hold of for the lower end of the hundreds?

would be a nice start for the car i feel and then can look into lowering before i save for something else that takes my fancy lol!

cheers james

welcome along,

The TDI's are great cars, Use to own one myself.

as for PCD/offset - Factory - 5x112 offset 47-53. People have run as low as 35 or even less on them, but do require some inner guard work.
then you can go and adjust fenders and arch liners for the wheels you want to run. Just depends on how much you really would like to spend imo.

Cheers- seeing a varying amount of incorrect numbers over the web if this is true! haha!

yeah, unfortunately VW managed to try and sell me everything in the shop for the car rather then think what i may as a young adult want first - alloys  :congrats: ... so therefore i have been looking at a few second hand options.

heard that Audi alloys fitted without problems - hence the questions on PCD/Offset to try and make sure if so! there's also a range of nice alloys VW based on the ebay and other sites, if i had around 2-300 with or without second hand tyres -

what am i looking at (if anything!!) lol!?

or should i just save more cash?

yeah i saw a few- one was a replica set and a couple of orig sets for reasonable prices, but a lot with quite a few days to go and commonly the prices on these wheels sky rockets at the end lol.

feels as if the only thing i will miss about my pathetic 1.1 peugeot is the cheap modding then! haha!

Thanks for the welcome guys,

Will get some pics of it up over the weekend (collect it saturday)  so when i have eventually become bored of driving around with a big grin i will post some! haha!

still on the hunt for some alloys, seen a few 15"/16" orig VW alloys with some sort of rubber attached going around 150-200. seems my tight arse budget may have a slight silver lining after all

anyway!

when you get it and get a chance, post some photo's up.
