Carbonio vs Twintake
« on: August 17, 2011, 09:50:14 pm »
Looking for a bit of advice on intakes here.

Currently I'm running a stage 2 map, carbonio cold air intake, forge twintercooler and full miltek although I can never remember if it's res or non res, it's deffo cat back!  However I'm looking at the forge twintake to replace the carbonio.

So just wondering if anyone has experience of both intakes or could tell me what increase in performance I may get with the twintake? And also any increase in engine sound? The carbonio just doesn't do it for me! It looks nice but I feel I could be getting better performance from something else that still looks good.

Yes replacing it will open up your stage 2.  Get it bought and dont look back.  You will get sucking and whooshing noises which are awesome...

My 1st inlet was the carbonio. Looks nice, gave no peeformace gain.

I'm currently on the ITG which offers flow/performance on par with the twintake.  The difference was great.  Performance and noise wise.

The twintake keeps the bay candy and will give you a few horses in the process. Win.

If your running stage 2, you will have a turbo back exhaust not just a cat back.

Sarah, give me a shout if you want me to mod your engine cover for the twintake. Done a few now. :happy2:
You will love it, and it gives you the extra carbon that I know you love!

^ ^ I'll be shifting my chopped cover soon Sarah, one from Al himself in case you're interested. He may be able to do you a better one though as my car isn't exactly show standard

I doubt the Carbonio made any noticeable differences for you other than it's cosmetics? Certainly didn't for me.

I'm running the DBilas intake with a Pipercross cone filter and it looks and sounds better over OEM/Carbonio. TBH I personally dislike any turbo acoustic exaggeration - whooshes, chatters and waste gate dump sounds do nothing for me, although, I do love the performance rewards of a Turbo. It's cool but in all likelihood I'll be returning to the OEM intake purely as I've not hit the inducted sound I wanted on hitting the gas.

A twintake setup will compliment your Stage 2+ setup a lot more over a Carbonio though
