My car for sale, is the price too high ?
« on: September 13, 2011, 06:03:28 pm »
Hi guys I have my car for sale in the sale section( have a look) I was just wondering if my price was right, if not what should it be, I've spent over 5k in the last six months on the car and it has full service history, also cam belt and water pump done recently

Any advice would be grately received, thanks

I'd say it's probably £2K too much.

As everyone will say, sell the mods separately, and the car in standard tune.

as above only more money off... Nobody wants a modded car unless its exactly what he/she is looking for 90% of people will see 55 plate £10,500 chuckle and read another ad ... No matter how much YOU think it's worth...... It's only worth what someone wants to pay  ie £7.5-8k sorry to be harsh but that's the nature of the 2nd hand Market at the mo

agree with those above...i made a longer reply but for some reason it has not been uploaded.  the age, possibly the mileage and in some cases the mods might put some off, even at a reasonable price.  just to give some sense of perception...i bought my 26k MY08 GTi for 11k from a franchised dealer with a year's warranty, fvwsh etc, which i thought was a good deal.

buyers market at the moment sadly. Price depends on how quickly you want to sell. I seen 55 plate golfs going for 7k in july when i was looking. But you also seen some listed at 9k private.

Markets very slow so listen to offers reasonably. I offered a guy with a red gti 9400 when it was up for 10500. He said he wouldnt go lower than 10. I seen it about a month later still for sale at 9100.

sound advice...that's where i was with my impreza...sold it for 800 notes less than i had turned down from a semi-serious enquiry some weeks earlier.  kind of how it goes in a market like this.

Being in the motor trade i can confirm that book values have dropped 3-4% over the last few months. If late 2011 is anything like late 2010 going into 2011, book values will hold and maybe see a slight rise as supply dries up.
VW Golf Edition 30, Candy White, 3dr Manual. Plus a stunning Aston Martin V12 Vantage!

Keep it at price it is, and hopefully everyone else holds out. Soon as a couple drop the value it seems people arent willing to pay anymore for one and it drives the prices down :(

If you're not at all bothered about actually selling it, keep it at price it is, and hopefully everyone else holds out...

I say take the parts off, ( I would say that though, I want your brakes!)

A standard car will always appeal more as everyone wants a blank canvas, modders don't want the work already done.

I'd echo that...I would rather do my stuff than take on someone else's mods.
