I had a MK1 Focus RS and the paintwork was horrid, but after a detail it looked perfect. It's worth the money, and it will save you time in the long run in cleaning it. Once clayed, it's a pleasure cleaning the car. Nothing worse than swirls in sunlight :(

My GT looked fantastic when machine polished and once waxed wasn't prone to swirling anymore than any other colour I have had. Only negative to black it shows the light undercoat when chipped!  :ashamed:

Here's my ED30. I find myself cleaning once a week. As long as you keep a good cleaning regiem it's not a problem , in fact it's a pleasure.

Here it is after a good clay and polish :happy2:

Best colour by far when it's properly detailed and sparkling in the sun!  :happy2:

+1 for the flake:

As above, it can be a PITA to keep clean. I wash mine every two weeks to try to keep on top of it but realistically need to wash every week. If you do get a diamond black pearl car, make sure you get it professionally detailed soon after purchase so it's easier to maintain the clean look.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
