Just watched the news and watched an ed30 58 plate with light on the roof pull out of the site the minors are trapped at. Hope they all get out ok

Do these courses make you faster drivers?

Any one can drive a car fast. Just look at all the dickheads the police chase. It's being able to do so with a high degree of control and being able to regain control of the car if you start to lose it. The courses teach you to be alert to what is going on around you whilst maintaining a vehicle safely at high speed, how to spot potential hazards etc and how to react should the vehicle start to breakaway.

You mean anyone can drive a car fast in a straight line.

So basic car control and awareness is what they teach then, and nothing that most enthusiast car drivers dont already do

I know you dont, but some coppers who have had this training, seem to think it makes them into a driving god

You get it a few times at karting open events, after the event having being lapped once or twice they will have been bought down a peg or two back to reality  :signLOL:

Was it silver? If so that's one of my neighbours and he's in the Fire service :happy2:

Down here the police used to have EVO 8's :driver: Not sure what they have now but I think they're Audi's of some description

If you think your doing it already, next time you go out with a passenger try and give them a running commentary of the list below whilst every so often they read out a pre prepared radio message that you have to listen to, remember and obey any commands (think - closing to join a pursuit and your listening for where the target vehicle is currently and where it's heading to)

Your speed
Direction
Road Conditions
Pedestrains
Other traffic
Identify Hazards
Name of road your on

I fully agree though that you get the odd one or two that think they are the next Lewis Hamilton. As with any course, they teach you pass the course by meeting the required standard. Skill comes with experience and driving on a track is completely different to driving fast on a road.

Ok that makes things a bit more difficult, I reckon I could do ok though with a little practice.

When i did my course i used to feel mentally drained after every day as there is a lot to take in.

But as with anything it just takes practice. It then becomes more natural and your driving and commentary start to flow better. Why don't you try an advanced driving test? You might be surprised at what you will learn (if you haven't done any lessons before)

They have a black one and a gun metal grey one that has a white Motorsport sticker on the back that operate around the M6/M6 Toll/M5/M42 area
