Reset DSG
« on: September 15, 2011, 09:00:55 pm »
Hi, I'm having some problems with my DSG. It's generally quite jerky when warmed up and in low gears.

Before I take it to VW I just wondered will they charge to do a DSG reset?

The dealer will refer to the process as basic settings but i believe this is the same as the reset mentioned on this forum. Had mine in for something similar and the dealer serviced the box and set it to basic but honestly i cannot feel any difference. But i have no idea if my bar was taken on the required drive after the reset

Thanks - I know it can be done with vcds but I don't know anyone with one - I'm going to be taking my car to VW to get the cambelt done soon anyway so figured I'd ask them to do it but will they charge me?

What was the problem with yours Chris?

If your car is still in warranty then I doubt they would charge you if you complain about dsg problem. If not then be prepared to pay.

The most obvious problem i have is changing from first to second when cold, it's much slower than when warm, plus there is some hesitation dropping from fourth to third at slower speeds .
